Gwen's Tattoo

Sunrise Hanson symbol tattoo located on her inner right ankle

I had been thinking about getting a Hanson symbol tattoo for about the same amount of time as I've been a fan. It was the very first tattoo I ever thought of getting, even though it ended up being my 7th actual tattoo, lol. Originally, I was thinking about getting it around my belly button, haha.
First I had to decide where I wanted the Hanson tattoo, and once I decided to get it on my inner right ankle, the design became pretty obvious. I have a moon tattoo on my outer ankle, so getting a sunrise tattoo seemed to be the perfect choice for the inner.
I got it on 8/31/2003, a Sunday. It was pretty much definite that I was getting this tattoo after I saw them in concert at the Middle East in Cambridge on August 12th of the same year. Where I went to get the tattoo was The Chameleon. It's located in Harvard Sq. in Cambridge MA. Seeing as this wasn't my first tattoo, it was pretty standard for me. The story though, is that when I had one of the girls who worked thre draw it up for me, I refused to tell her what the symbol was. It wasn't until the day I was scheduled to get my tattoo that I admitted to both her and the tattoo artist who was doing my tattoo what the symbol was. The tattoo artist and I had a pretty candid and amusing conversation while he was doing to ink. He was sorta making fun of me, but at the same time, he was listening to what I had to say. I also kept the tattoo secret from my friends until it was done because I didn't want someone to try to talk me out of it. When it was finally finished and I announced the tattoo and showed it to people, they thought it was pretty awesome that I did it, and they loved the colors. They also thought it was pretty smart of me to keep the symbol itself flesh-colored in case I ever, for some weird reason, lost interest in Hanson. Even though it cost me a pretty penny, (approx. $250), it was totally worth it and I love my tattoo!
