In 2009, Hanson found still more ways to keep in contact with their fans around the world. In addition to blogging on their website, their new official Twitter was kept up-to-date with tweets, photos, and audio files. They debuted the new feature aLive@Hanson.net which brought live events to fans all over the world. They had numerous live appearances; from the Rock Boat IX in January and the Use Your Soul Tour in September-November to the three fan club events scattered over the United States. With the release of the ep Stand Up Stand Up, Hanson continued their plan of releasing new music each year.
Here are some of the Hanson Highlights of 2009. How many do you remember?
January 17-22: Hanson participated in The Rock Boat IX.
February 14: The new song "All That Love Crap" was posted on Hanson.net.
February 23: Hanson's official Twitter was debuted.
February 24: The Hanson Hotline returned as an audio blog.
March 14 Taylor's 26th birthday.
March 20-21: Hanson attended SXSW. Taylor performed with his side project, Tinted Windows.
March 27: The new "Great Divide" video was released.
April 3: Hanson performed at Tin Pan South, at the Mercy Lounge in Nashville.
April 7: Hanson went into the studio to start intensive work on their next album.
May 15-16: Hanson hosted a Members Only Event in Tulsa, featuring a performance of new music, a recording session at which the new EP Stand Up Stand Up was recorded, meet & greets, and new merchandise.
May 16: Hanson sponsored a Walk in downtown Tulsa.
July 13: Hanson hung out with singer-songwriter Marc Broussard.
July 16: Taylor spoke to People Magazine about his growing family, and shared a family portrait.
July 22: Hanson announced their fall US Tour, the "Use Your Sole" Tour, with co-headliner Hellogoodbye.
July 23: Hanson.net got a new look.
August 2: Sixthman posted a podcast of Hanson from the Rock Boat IX.
September 3: Hanson performed a surprise show at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, California.
September 8: Hanson attended Paper Magazine's Twenty Fifth Anniversary Party. Taylorwas interviewed in the magazine, and he appeared on one of its commemorative covers.
September 8: Hanson were interviewed on WLS radio in Chicago.
September 17: Hanson joined The Voluntour.
September 18: Hanson were guest DJs on Tulsa radio station KHITS.
September 21: Hanson started rehearsing for the Use Your Soul tour. Taylor began a fast for Darfur.
September 22: Day Two of Taylor's fast for Darfur.
September 23: The third and last day of Taylor's fast for Darfur.
September 24: Hanson did a radio interview on KBEZ in Tulsa.
September 26: The last day of tour rehearsal.
September 28: Hanson performed at the Kern County Fair in Bakersfield, California.
September 30: The Use Your Sole Tour debuted at Cain's Ballroom in Hanson's hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Hanson appeared that morning on Tulsa's News on 6.
October 1: The tour continued at The Pageant in St. Louis, Missouri.
October 2: Hanson performed at The Beaumont in Kansas City, Missouri. Earlier, they hosted a walk at the University of Kansas.
October 3: Hanson played a show at First Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
October 5: The Use Your Soul tour continued at The Rave in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
October 6: Hanson played the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio. The walk that afternoon started at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
October 7: Hanson played at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio.
October 9: Hanson performed a show at the Egyptian Room in Indianapolis, Indiana.
October 10: The tour continued at The Fillmore in Detroit, Michigan.
October 11: Hanson played the first of two shows at the House of Blues in Chicago, Illinois. Rick Neilson and Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick joined the band onstage for an encore of "I Want You to Want Me".
October 12: Hanson appeared on WGN Morning News in Chicago. They had a free show and hosted a walk at University of Illinoi, Chicago. Later they performed the second show at the House of Blues.
October 14: Hanson played the House of Blues in Boston, Massachusetts.
October 15: The tour continued at the Nokia Theatre in New York, New York.
October 16: Hanson played at the Northern Lights in Albany, New York.
October 17: Hanson were honored as a 2009 Champion in Philanthropy award winner at the CARE International World Poverty Day event in Atlanta, Georgia. They also performed at the event
October 18: Hanson held a Members Only Event at the in Washington, D.C. The event included a 45 minute acoustic concert, a question and answer session, and a photograph session.
October 19: The tour continued at Rams Head Live in Baltimore, Maryland.
October 20: Hanson appeared on Fox 5 News. They performed two songs and held a walk at American University. That night, they performed at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC.
October 22: On Zac's 24th birthday, Hanson performed at Amos' Southend in Charlotte, North Carolina.
October 23: Hanson hosted a walk and performed at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It was bassist Will Birckhead's birthday!
October 24: After leading a walk at University of Central Florida, Hanson performed at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida.
October 26: Hanson performed at Workplay in Birmingham, Alabama, after leading a walk at Samford University.
October 27: Hanson led a walk in the rain from Belmont University to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. They had a brief free concert at the bookstore of Vanderbilt. That night, they played a show at the Wildhorse Saloon.
October 28: Hanson hosted a walk at Georgia Tech Student Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Later, they performed at The Tabernacle.
October 30: After a walk at Tulane University, Hanson performed at the House of Blues in New Orleans, Louisiana.
October 31: Hanson played their Halloween concert at the Houston, Texas House of Blues. They dressed as the Three Amigos, and performed "Thriller" as an encore along with the warmup bands.
November 1: Hanson performed at the House of Blues in Dallas, Texas.
November 3: After leading a walk at the University of Denver, Hanson performed at the Ogden Theater in Denver, Colorado.
November 5: Hanson performed at San Francisco State in support of the Typhoon Relief efforts headed by Pacific Relief Efforts of Students of San Francisco. They hosted the first ever live chat over aLive@Hanson.net. Later, they played a show at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, California.
November 7: After leading a walk at UCLA, Hanson performed at the Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California. Weird Al Yankovic joined them onstage.
November 8: Hanson performed at the House of Blues in San Diego, California. The walk was at San Diego State University, and was broadcast live for Hanson.net members.
November 10: The Use Your Sole tour continued at the Rialto in Tuscon, Arizona.
November 11: The Use Your Sole tour concluded at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California. The last song was broadcast live over aLive@Hanson.net.
November 12: Hanson had their third Members Only Event of 2009 in Los Angeles, California. It was broadcast live for Hanson.net members.
November 13: The new song "Make It Out Alive" was presented to fans via TweetMic. Taylor tweeted that he was eating dinner with Solobob.
December 8: The EP Stand Up Stand Up became available on iTunes.
December 15: Hanson announced the "Five of Five" series of concerts and Bamboozle appearance scheduled for April-May 2010.
