2004: Hanson's Year In Review

This was a very busy year for Hanson, and a very productive one for their fans. This year, they had countless public appearances, including television spots, radio interviews, a film of their 2003 concert playing at movie theaters, and a full concert tour covering 13 countries on 4 continents. They released a new album and single in many countries. They had a #2-selling single in the US, and were #1 on Billboard's Independent Album chart. Their videos and live performances were streamed over all the major music websites.

The new year is already shaping up to be similarly filled with Hanson music and appearances. Before we plunge into a new year of Hanson, let's take a look back at what 2004 brought us. How many of these Hanson events do you remember? The links lead to reviews, previews, interviews, photos, or something somehow connected with the particular event.


January 13: Isaac and Taylor sat in with Les Paul during his regular set at the The Iridium Jazz Club. They played "Rip It Up" and "Ain't No Sunshine" with Les Paul.The appearance was captured by VH1 for a documentary to be aired later this year.

January 16: Snowballing With Hanson appeared in Papermag Magazine

January: Taylor interviewed Hilary Duff for Interview magazine


February: There was a big Hanson article in Details Magazine.

February 7: Hanson shoots "Penny and Me" video

February 9:Hanson played an acoustic show at Astro Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

February 11: Hanson were interviewed on 76.1 InterFM in Tokyo.

February 27: Hanson appeared on the Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn. They performed a plugged-in version of "Penny and Me".

February 23: "Penny and Me" was released to U.S. radio.

February 29: Hanson performed a promo show at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA.


March 1: Hanson were guests on Mark and Brian's syndicated radio show.

March 2: Hanson performed a promo show at the House of Blues in Anaheim, CA.

March 3: Hanson appeared on On-Air with Ryan Seacrest in the US. In Japan, they appeared on a previously taped show called Viva Access. That evening, they performed for radio station contest winners at the Kelly Lounge in Bakersfield, California.

March 9: Hanson's Wayne Brady Show appearance was aired. They also had a brief performance at WXLO FM

March 10: Hanson performed a show at the Webster Theater in Hartford, Connecticut.They also visited KISS FM in Hartford.

March 11: Hanson performed at Northern Lights in Albany, New York.

March 13: Hanson performed at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey.

March 14: Dinner With Hanson? MMMGood appeared in the New York Times, just in time for Taylor's 21st birthday!

March 17: Underneath was released in Japan. It includes bonus songs not found on the U.S. edition.

March 22: Hanson were guests on Nickelodeon's U-Pick Live.

March 23: The Penny and Me single was released to retail in the U.S. The single includes Penny and Me, Every Word I Say, Penny and Me acoustic, and Hey acoustic.

March 30:Taylor and Zac joined Ben Jelen on stage at The Knitting Factory in New York City.


April 1: Hanson appeared at the Q Lounge of Q97.9 in Portland, Maine. Penny and Me debuted at #2 on Billboard's Singles sales chart!

April 2: Hanson appeared at the Ioka Theatre in Exeter, New Hampshire to judge Seacoast Idol 2 Final and perform. Hanson performed and were interviewed at radio stion 92 PRO in Providence, Rhode Island.

April 9: Hanson performed for employees of Billboard Magazine at the magazine's cafe in New York City.

April 12: The VH1 documentary All Access Spotlight: Hanson debuted at 5:00 PM. Hanson visited P.S. 40 in New York City to share their love of music with children, as part of VH1's Save the Music program.

April 15:Hanson appeared on The Early Show and Entertainment Tonight.

April 16:Hanson appeared live on Good Morning America.
Hanson were guest DJs on Sirius Satellite radio.
Hanson performed at the Patchogue Theater in Patchogue, New York.

April 17: Hanson appeared on NBC Today, Weekend Edition.

April 18:Hanson appeared live on Fox and Friends.

April 19: Hanson appeared live on WB11's Morning News in New York.
Hanson had a guest appearance on TRL where they play "Penny and Me".
Hanson's Chicago House of Blues show was shown in Regal theaters throughout the U.S. Hanson attended the New York City showing.

April 20: Underneath is released in the US! Hanson appeared at an in-store at New York City's Virgin Megastore to celebrate the release.
Hanson were the musical guest, playing "Penny and Me" on The View.
Hanson were interviewed on The Biz on CNNfn.

April 21: Hanson chatted with fans on msn.com

April 26: Hanson played "Penny and Me" on the Jay Leno show
Hanson visited radio station KTLA in Los Angeles.

Apri 28: Hanson performed and were interviewed at the studio of 107.9 The End in Sacramento, California.

April 29: Underneath is the #1 Independent Album!


May 3: Hanson were guests on Ellen DeGeneres's show.

May 6: Hanson appeared at the Wilmington Flower Market in Delaware.

May 7: Hanson performed at the Lancaster, Pennsylvania studio of FM97.

May 9: Hanson played at the Cinco de Mayo festival in Austin, Texas.

May 10: Hanson were interviewed and performed at the MIX 96.1 studio in San Antonio, Texas.

May 11: Hanson perform at the K945 Bar-B-Que in Shreveport, Louisiana.

May 13: Underneath was released in the Philippines.

May 14: Hanson had a performance and interview at radio station KHKS in Dallas, Texas Hanson had a CD signing at FYE in Irving Mall in Irving, Texas.

May 17: Hanson were guests at radio station CHUM in Toronto, Canada Hanson appeared on the Canadian TV shows Off The Record and City Pulse.

May 18: Hanson appeared on Much On Demand

Underneath is released in Canada and Thailand.

May 20: Hanson play at the Bling Bling Summer Ding in Lexington, Kentucky.

May 21: Hanson appeared on the Canadian TV show E! Talk Daily
Hanson appeared at Jillians in Louisville, Kentucky. They spoke to fans and played a few acoustic songs.

May 23: Hanson appeared on the Canadian TV show Hit List.

June 1: Launch.com posted video of Hanson live in their studio.

June 2: Hanson played at the Sphere in Buffalo, New York.

June 3: Hanson performed at a meeting of Wal-Mart stockholders in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

June 5: Hanson played at Canton Palace in Ohio.

June 8: Hanson were in Seoul, Korea. They held a press conference and performed.

June 9: Hanson performed at Seoul Olympic Park.

June 10: Hanson arrived in Bangkok, Thailand. They were given a very special welcome, and presented with garlands. An elephant and traditional Thai dancers also greeted them at their arrival.

June 11: Hanson held a press conference and Meet and Greet at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok.
Hanson appeared on the Twilight Show in Thailand.

June 12: Hanson performed and greeted fans at Siam Center in Bangkok, Thailand.


July 3: Hanson performed at XL106.7's Red Hot & Boom at Crane's Roost Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

July 4: Hanson performed at the Red, White, and Blue Festival at the Peace Center in Greenville, South Carolina.

July 5: The Underneath Tour begins as Hanson perform at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

July 8: Hanson played the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC.

July 13: Hanson performed at 92 Pro FM's "All Star" concert at the Fleet Skating Center in Providence, Rhode Island in honor of the Pawsox's AAA All-Star game.

July 14: Hanson appeared on The Early Show and performed the first of two shows at Irving Plaza in New York City.

September 2:Hanson played the House of Blues in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

September 4-5: Concerts at Clearwater and Pompano Beach, Florida were postponed due to the impending threat of Hurricane Frances.

September 14:Hanson surprised the students of Columbia University in New York City with an impromptu performance of two acoustic songs, as well as a call to action concerning music and the media.

September 15: Hanson appeared on MTV's Cribs.

mid September: Hanson collaborated with Shannon Curfman for her upcoming album, at the Fool's Banquet writing retreat in Tulsa.

September 30: Hanson dropped by Regis University in Denver, Colorado. They had an interview with student radio station KRCX, played some songs acoustically, and spoke of the media and music. Hanson played the Paramount Theater in Denver.


October 2: Hanson played the House of Blues in Las Vegas. Here is a preview and a review of the show.

October 3: Hanson performed at the Marquee Theater in Tempe, Arizona.

October 6: Hanson played the House of Blues in Anaheim, California.

October 7: Hanson dropped in on the campus of the University of Southern California. They were interviewed on CU@USC on TV8, USC's television channel. Later they played at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, California.

October 9: Hanson played the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, California.

October 10: Hanson ended the U.S. Underneath tour in Sacramento, at the Empire.

mid October: VH1.com posted videos of Hanson playing four songs unplugged on Live@VH1.com.

October 18: Underneath was released in Australia.

October 21: The "Lost Without Each Other" maxi-single was released in Japan.

October 22: Zac turned 19!


November 2: Hanson began the European leg of their tour with a show at The Rock in Copenhagen, Denmark.

November 3: Hanson performed a concert at La Scene in Paris, France.

November 5: Hanson played a concert at Shepherds Bush Empire in London, England. Here are some photos of the concert.

Rolling Stone released a two-track mini-album online, with Deeper and Underneath.

November 17: Hanson performed their first full Australian concert, in Melbourne at the Hi-Fi Club. It was Isaac's birthday!

November 18: Hanson were guests on the Kyle and Jackie O radio show in Australia. They were also interviewed on the Hot 30 Countdown with Higgo and Alexis.

November 19: Hanson were on the Today Show, Rove, and Channel V in Australia . Later, they performed at SPACE in Sydney. Meanwhile, at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa Oklahoma, brother Mackenzie accepted three Spot Music Awards. Hanson won for Best Pop Performer, Best National Album, and Artist of the Year.

November 22: Hanson began the Japanese leg of their tour at the Tokyo International Forum in Tokyo, Japan.

November 23: Hanson were featured on MTV Most Wanted in Australia.
Hanson performed at the Big Cat in Osaka, Japan.

November 25: Hanson performed at the Bottom Line in Nagoya, Japan.

November 26: Hanson played the second of two shows at the Tokyo International Forum in Tokyo, Japan.

November 28: Hanson performed at Score in Jakarta, Indonesia.
