No I didn't actually go to Mayfest this year but because of a dear friend of mine, Mayfest was a day I will never forget. I might go into more detail later but a little overview...My friend Monica..aka monihan offered to try to get my cross stitch of Taylor and Ezra to Taylor for me because she was going to Mayfest. I couldn't explain how much I appreciated her doing this for me. Because of the large crowd anticipated for Mayfest, I kind of doubted she would be able to get it into his hands directly. What had been planned was she was going to give it to someone who worked for Hanson who would pass it on to Taylor. And if that didn't work, maybe taking it to the MOE house would work. Anyway, all I could do was cross my fingers and hope for the best. A few days later, Monica surprised me saying she would be able to frame it for me. I was very very touched that she offered so of course I said YES! And thanks to her and her father, I was able to get my cross stitch framed!!!
Monica and also her friend Lauren..aka landjholm were also going to try to get some amazing drawings that they have made to Taylor as well. Here is Monica's drawing. Isn't it precious?
On the back of Monica's drawing, she put a beautiful poem written by Alex. (drdian6@hanson.net) He is 12 years old and is a huge Hanson fan and has many amazing talents as well as writing poetry! It's amazing how at a young age he's able to use words to make something so beautiful! He is really blessed with his talent and I know Hanson admires his creativity as well as me and many many other people!!! YOU ROCK ALEX!!!! I'd love to meet you some day!
So here I present to you the poem Alex wrote. In some of the pictures on this page you can see the poem on the back of Monica's drawing but of course you can't read it.....but you can now! :0)

by Alex (drdian6@hanson.net) - Song
and Monica (monihan@hanson.net) - Artwork
He sits and holds
His baby tight
And only sings
To him tonight.
Soft and sweet
He sings a melody
Singing: Home is
Where the Love
Shines bright
And for us
It's on the
Road tonight.
Now the road's
Got twists and
It's got turns.
The days are long
And nights get cold
That must be why
God gave you to hold.
We bring our Love
And get on board
Cause the road
Is our home once more.
Home is where
The heart is
And his heart's
Right there in
His Arms!!!
And here is Lauren's (landjholm@hanson.net) picture she made. Isn't it adorable? I just love it!!!! I know all the Hanson clan are fans of her and her husband's artwork!
On the way to Tulsa, my other friend Kristina, aka hansondaydreams went down with Monica. They were able to get a photo of my cross stitch and Monica's drawing together! So neat!!!!
Photo property of Kristina aka hansondaydreams@hanson.net, (taken by Tara, aka lildiva@hanson.net.)
Well to my surprise, the day after Mayfest, marica in Hanson.net had posted to me asking if this was my cross stitch in this picture. I clicked the link expecting to see my cross stitch being shown to fans or something like that...but I about fell out of my chair when I saw that TAYLOR HIMSELF was in the picture..HOLDING my cross stitch in his hands!! (picture is the first one on this page.) And yes I did freak! I was so shocked I literally started shaking!!! I was screaming with joy! Took awhile to calm down though. heh heh! But a bit later, I found out a little more about what happened from Monica and Kristina themselves.
Some info from Monica....
I see that you already know that I did hand Taylor both of our portraits! hehe I waited in the hot, burning heat and was determined to give those directly to Taylor and I DID! Kristina (hansondaydreams) caught a picture of him also taking our stuff. I didn't know that someone else took a picture. Oh and Taylor stated enthusically (sp?) that he thought our work was incredible. He said,"Such detail!" And that was about your cross stitch!
Earlier, during sound check, I spoke with Walker Hanson and asked him if I had a chance to hand them to him and he said he doesn't see why! Walker also was stunned at our work! He said they were beautiful. Even later on during the concert Walker was saying that everyone on their bus was looking at our stuff! And he complimented me on my talent of drawing. He really touched my heart.
I said I would get those pics to him and I DID!
And a little more detailed version I just got from Monica..
I wanted to tell you exactly how the afternoon went and how I got our
artwork to Taylor. I was standing in the hot, blistering heat and
melting, holding onto our stuff, when
suddenly I saw Walker Hanson talking to someone. This was during the
soundcheck and Hanson were on stage playing and I was pondering how I was
going to get the stuff over to Taylor. I got the courage to walk
up to Walker and he smiled at me, which put me at ease. I then asked him
if it would be smart to give him the artwork to give to Taylor and he went
nuts over my drawing and your cross stitch! hehe He then said he didn't
see why I couldn't hand it to him. :o) I smiled and said I hope I can,
but if I can't I would give the stuff over to him or anyone that is back
stage, so Taylor could get it.
Well that was one down and two more to go. hehe I was feeling kind of
ill standing in the 102 degree heat and decided to go in the back where
the back stage area was. It was neat to see things from behind the stage.
I could see Zac clearly from that side. I saw Natalie carry their little
baby girl onto the bus near the fence where I was standing. I thought
maybe I could hand them to her, but I didn't have a chance. Happily it
was shaded back there with trees and I felt better. I had several Hanson
netters tell me they thought our stuff was beautiful and they knew who I
was. Oh and Kristina was with me.
Well then Lauren and I were both
thinking how we were going to get them to Taylor. Finally Hanson was
finished with the soundcheck and I saw Taylor walk down the back stairs.
We scooted over to the edge of the fence gate and a security guard was
standing there making sure the fence was up because some fans pushed it
down. Well there was this girl standing there by us and suddenly Taylor
walked toward us and everyone of course yelled for him. He walked right
toward me and stated that the security guy should let that girl pass
through because she was suppose to be backstage. Well that was our
chance. I immediately said that I wanted to give him our stuff. I told
him I didn't want an autograph just that I wanted to give him our artwork.
He grabbed my drawing first and smiled and said it was incredible. hehe
He was so cute! And then I handed your cross stitch to him and told him
that Lynnbop from Hanson net did that. He smiled real big and said
incredible again and such detail. He was very impressed! Lauren then
handed her painting over to him and he smiled again and loved all our
stuff. Kristina took the pictures too. She is such a sweety! Some girls wanted his autograph but he
had a hard time since he had all our stuff in his hands, but he still
signed a few. And that is my adventure! I think that God
was with me that day, because I heard that Hanson didn't really sign any
autographs or mingle to much with the fans that day, so we were sooooo
lucky! After that Kristina and I went back to the hotel so we could cool
down and also to get some water.
And a little bit about it from Kristina....
Before we got to the
stage, we
heard it through the grapevine that Hanson would be doing a soundcheck at 1:30!
We
really wanted to check that out.
When we were there, Monica decided she wanted to go back to the hotel to get the
drawing she did of Taylor and Ezra and Lynn's cross stitch of the same picture-
JUST
incase she could get those to him and to show other fans. I said I'd walk back
with her to
do that. Back at the stage Monica was showing a lot of people the pictures or
else a lot of
fans really noticed what she had!
Since Monica really was determined to get the artwork to
Taylor we
were hanging out "backstage" where there was a lot more shade. OK, so it wasn't
actually
BACKSTAGE, but just behind the stage! We were on the sidewalk right behind where
their
RV thing was and all their cars were parked. Plus, we could see a nice view of
Zac playing
the drums on the stage. It was a better view to see his back from there than to
see him
from the front with Taylor and Ike and all the over stuff in front of him. We
met Lauren
(LandJHolm@hanson.net) and her husband Jason there. They had their new 8 month
old
baby Zachary there and he was so adorable! After a long time we were starting
to get
impatient and wondering when the soundcheck would get done! Finally it got down
and
Taylor's standing on the stage talking with some crew people. Monica was just
like "come
on Taylor!" Not really loud but just kind of to herself. Then he actually does
come down off
of the stage and was standing right on the other side of the RV as us talking to
people
more. This time we had moved over to the end of the fence right behind it to
make sure
he'd see us! Then Taylor came walking over ONLY because he wanting to let some
girl
through to the VIP area. I guess she knew them or something. He was standing
right next
to Monica and finally she got to give both presents to him! I took 2 pictures of
him then of
his reaction and holding them.
Here are Kristina's pics! She also took the one of her and Monica holding our artwork but I think I told you that. Heh heh!
Taylor holding my cross stitch and Monica's drawing. Lauren's picture might be there too but it's hard to tell.
Taylor looking at Monica's drawing!
You can go and see all of Kristina's Mayfest pics at her photo page here! KRISTINA'S PICS
Another great pic from this day! This one belongs to Kristin..aka drummerchick@hanson.net. Thank you so much for allowing me to use this one Kristin!!!!
And a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who let me use their pictures since I couldn't be there in person. To have this moment captured on film means a lot to me and to Monica and Lauren as well! Thank you so much!!!
And the last picture is a graphic I made of how Hanson has blessed me through the years.
