“Kris?”

Kristina stuffed her head farther into her pillow. She couldn’t see him. Not now. It would be too hard. “Go away, Taylor!” Her words came out muffled and weak.

“Kris, please let me in. I need to talk to you.”

She didn’t know why, but she suddenly became angry. She pulled herself off the bed and stormed to her bedroom door. She pulled it open, careful not to look into his eyes. Those crystal blue eyes that could break her every time. “I’m sorry, Taylor, but it’s too late. You had all those months to talk to me. To tell me! But you lost it!” She started to shut the door, but his hand poked through and stopped it.

“Please, Kris, let me talk to you.”

His voice. His soft voice, filled with such emotion started to sing to her.

Kristina slowly opened the door, not bothering to hide her tear-stained face. “Taylor... that was beautiful...I...”

Taylor pushed past the door and took Kris into his arms. “Oh, Kris, I’m so sorry. I just didn’t know how to tell you... and I knew if I did tell you, things would change between us... I just...”

“Taylor, it’s okay. I guess, I’m not as upset that you didn’t tell me, it’s just... it’s the fact that you guys are actually going to be touring now. You know how many beautiful girls are out there... any one of those can take you away from me.” She stared into his eyes. “I don’t want to lose you.”

Taylor smiled and pushed her hair behind her ear. “Kris, I hate to tell you this but I’m already taken by a beautiful girl...” He had to stop and laugh when she looked up at him, worried. “Baby, it’s you. You will never have to worry about another girl taking your place because you’re the only one for me. Always and forever, remember?”

Kristina smiled, as a lone tear rolled down her cheek. “Yeah... I love you, Taylor.”

They shared a strong embrace, which seemed to last forever. Taylor placed his lips by her ear. “Wherever I am, my heart stays with you.”
